Chocolate Chip Cookies Overload? Never!

History saw the chocolate chip cookie make its way into the world when owners of the then known Toll House Inn put out batches of these yummies for sale. Known as a haven for homemade, grandma’s-secret-recipe type of food, this chocolate peppered snack got rave reviews almost immediately.

Although it’s still debated if the inn owners are the very first to have baked this type of cookie. Maybe the first to have been written about, yes. Regardless, their signature cookie would continue to live on to this day. Even the base recipe itself hasn’t changed much. Of course, over the years, with baker after baker tweaking it, adding more ingredients, changing ingredients. You have to admit, there’s nothing like this pastry/dessert.

Easy Chocolate Chip Recipe

It always starts with the basics, as we’ve echoed throughout this post. Baking soda, all-purpose flour, confectioner’s sugar/ granulated sugar, brown sugar (yup, another one), salt, butter, vanilla extract, eggs. And of course, chocolate chips.

Number one is to preheat your oven to 375. While waiting, mix 2 and ½ cups of flour with a teaspoon of baking soda, and a teaspoon of salt. Secondly, in another bowl, beat the butter with the 2 sugars until they get to that fluffy texture. Use a hand mixer to make this easier. Medium speed, please. Then add 2 eggs, one at a time. Pour the other bowl of powdery ingredients into this one and continue beating, whilst adding a few drops of vanilla extract. The last step is to add in those chocolate chips. They should be mixed in evenly.

Furthermore, once the dough is ready, lay the cookie cutters on the baking sheet and fill each one. Be sure to put at least half an inch of space in between every cutter/shape. Finally, they’re ready to bake!
